Yan Zhang

Yan Zhang is a Partner and the Chief Accountant in the firm’s National Office, bringing over 30 years of experience in public accounting. She plays a key leadership role in shaping the firm’s positions on emerging accounting and financial reporting issues and provides strategic guidance on complex U.S. GAAP matters. Yan also supports client service teams by offering technical expertise and insights on challenging accounting topics.

She has worked with a wide range of clients—including public companies, multinational corporations, private businesses, and partnerships—across industries such as industrial products, consumer markets, life sciences, technology, media, and entertainment. Her deep knowledge of SEC reporting includes experience with IPOs, private placements, carve-outs, mergers and acquisitions, and divestitures.

Yan currently serves on the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC), advising the FASB on standard-setting priorities and processes. She previously served two terms on the FASB’s Private Company Council (PCC) and has been a member of the AICPA’s Financial Reporting Executive Committee (FinREC) since 2022. She also served six years on the AICPA’s Technical Issues Committee for the Private Companies Practice Section.

In addition to her technical leadership, Yan is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and is actively involved in mentoring women and emerging professionals. 

Prior to joining the firm, she held senior roles at a Big Four accounting firm and gained international experience in several global capital markets.
