John Kavanagh is a Director in the firm's National Security Advisory Group. With more than 35 years of experience across the national security landscape, he advises public and private sector clients on risk, compliance, and crisis preparedness. He has extensive experience in the defense, education, and government sectors. 

John helps clients in assessing threats and vulnerabilities and helps in implementing customized solutions. He is responsible for shaping the firm's advisory capabilities. Collaborating with Partners and internal stakeholders, he designs and implements value-driven solutions that meet the unique needs of the National Security practice. 

Before joining the firm, John served as a National Security Advisor to the Department of Defense and other federal agencies, where he led compliance inspections under CFIUS and court-mandated divestment orders. In addition, he is a distinguished past career FBI Senior Executive Special Agent with a demonstrated record of success in conducting and managing a wide range of complex global investigative and intelligence activities. 

John also serves as an Adjunct Professor at leading universities, where he teaches courses on national security, with a focus on Homeland Security, Intelligence Collection, and Counterterrorism.
